Since 1972, Diamond Hitch Outfitters have helped fishermen, hunters and vacationers experience the wonders of southwestern Montana . As outfitters we provide the horses, boats, tents campsites, equipment, expertise and experience necessary to explore the backcountry. We are guides, wranglers, chauffeurs, cooks, and dishwashers—but mostly we are friends helping our guests enjoy this spectacular country.

Diamond Hitch Outfitters are based in Dillon , Montana , 65 miles south of Butte and 140 miles north of Idaho Falls , on Interstate 15. Our cabin base camp is located just off the Pioneer Scenic Byway between Wise River and Polaris. Pack trips take place in the proposed wilderness areas of the East and West Pioneers of the Beaverhead National Forest .

Tom Smith's Backcountry Angler Montana fly fishing lodge in Dillon is in close proximity to some of the most famous Southwestern trout streams the lower 48 have to offer: the Beaverhead River, the Big Hole River, the Madison River, and the Ruby River. These cottonwood, evergreen and willow lined streams produce prolific hatches of Caddis flies, Mayflies, Stoneflies, Salmon flies, and Midges as well as Terrestrials. Come test your fly fishing skills against truly wild trout.

I would like to personally invite you to experience the splendor of Montana at the Centennial Guest Ranch. Our ranch offers western style lodging overlooking the valley floor 1,000 feet below.

The ranch offers spectacular views of the Tobacco Root, Gravely, and Madison Range Mountains, as well as Ennis Lake at the north end of Madison Valley. Situated just 10 miles east of Ennis, we are centrally located in southwestern Montana, just 70 miles north of Yellowstone National Park or 50 miles southwest of Bozeman, Montana.

Plan your perfect Montana vacation by choosing one or all of our available family activities including horseback riding, high country pack trips, fishing, hunting, or just simply relaxing under the "Big Sky".

With our locations in Ennis, we offer you an ideal home base to fish all of the classic trout waters listed below. Its even possible to fish a different river every day. Your fishing wish is our command!

Madison River – One of the most famous trout streams in the world it offers an angler over 140 miles of prime trout-rich habitat. This river has so much to offer in terms of variety. We fish the upper Madison, lower Madison, Ennis Lake and the famous “Channels Section”. Its both wade and float fishing and we use large flies. With out a doubt the Madison is the most consistent river we fish in terms of number and size of fish caught.

Big Hole River – This is a classic western trout stream loaded with structure, gravel bars and drop offs. You combine the great scenery with the big browns that is known for and throw in the possibility of catching a grayling and you will want to spend a day on the Big Hole.

Yellowstone River – The longest free flowing river (undammed) in the lower 48. Known for its Yellowstone cutthroat trout population, Montana’s only native trout. The Yellowstone river is a great dry fly fishery and fishes well either from a drift boat or wading.
