See the beautiful Blackfoot Valley just as Lewis saw it! Lake Upsata and Western Montana is "the last best place!"
Merriwether Lewis and his party of adventurers came up the Blackfoot River on their return trip from the Pacific Ocean. As they looked across the Blackfoot Valley, his group was intrigued by the endless rolling hills and mounds formed by glacial activity thousands of years ago. Lewis himself was fascinated by the valley's rich biological diversity and beauty, and named the region "Prairie of the Knobs," after the odd geological formations. We still gaze across these rolling hills and mounds on many of our horseback rides, and wonder if we are seeing the land just as Lewis did almost 200 years ago.
